FAQs

  • What makes Attune Fitness, LLC, different from other studios?
Attune Fitness is a small, woman-owned business. Beth Elder, founder and owner, has 25+ years of experience working with people in all stages of life and wellness. Attune is a truly private space—just you and Beth—not a commercial gym atmosphere. Beth takes a holistic approach using a range of modalities that fit your needs. She develops personally tailored workout programs and provides you with digital copies for you to use in between sessions. She makes sure you have a foundation that will enable you to reach your goals in a safe, realistic, and lasting way. She can work collaboratively with other members of your treatment team/providers, if applicable. Clients have access to Beth in-between sessions: call, text, or email. Beth's core values: relationship, safe space, reliability, attunement, communication, continuity, healing, and trust.
  • What is the space like? Is it in a gym?
We are located in Chapel Hill, NC, in a private studio space in Southern Village. You’ll find us in the Executive Suites behind Weaver Street Market. It's cheerful and unique! Take the virtual tour!
  • What is Pilates?
Pilates targets the transverse abdominis (TA), our deepest ab muscle and the key to spinal support. The other component of Pilates is the diaphragm (the breathing muscle) which is critical for correctly activating the TA. Together, these 2 muscles ensure we get the results we are looking for in core strengthening. Besides core strength, people love Pilates because aesthetically it shrinks our waistline, improves out posture and helps with overall conditioning.
  • I have mobility issues. Can I access the building safely without using stairs?
Yes! There is an accessible entrance without stairs through Weaver Street Market. Park in front of Weaver Street Market (rather than on the street). You'll go through Weaver Street towards the back of the store (to the restrooms). When you enter the area where the restrooms are, turn left towards the door on your left (it is locked). Text or call me (919-949-6058) and I will come and let you in!
  • I'm curious about Beth's Pilates style and I am on a limited budget, what should I do?
Taking Beth's Pilates class is a great way to see what her style is like. It's budget friendly! You can try the class and take it at your own pace. Pilates class students have access to the latest 3 recorded classes, which can be taken at their convenience. It's also great if you travel a lot because it's virtual and it can come with you!
  • I don't live in Chapel Hill, NC, or in the immediate surrounding area. Can I still train with Beth?
Yes! Beth works with folks out of town and even in other countries! All services have a virtual option (with the exception of one-on-one Reformer training - unless you have your own!).
  • I don't have a significant history of exercising. Is Attune Fitness a good place for beginners?
Absolutely. Beth works with all fitness and experience levels. She has helped many people who are new to exercise get to a place where exercise became a consistent part of their life and she can help you, too!
  • Does Beth specialize in working with one particular kind of client; for example, younger, older, deconditioned, or endurance athletes?
Beth has 25+ years of experience working with all kinds of people with all kinds of goals. Beth conducts a thorough background and health history, talks with you about your goals, and helps you find a path that best fits your lifestyle. Check out more about Beth by clicking here.
  • I am injured/recovering and working with a physical therapist, can I work with Beth at the same time?
Yes. Although Beth is not a physical therapist (PT), she spent 10 years working in a PT Clinic where she worked collaboratively with PTs to make sure clients were progressing and healing correctly. Beth can even help you with your PT exercises and can incorporate those into your personalized program. Many people bring copies of exercises given to them by their PTs for inclusion in their workouts with Beth.
  • If I sign up for a personal training session with Beth, can I incorporate Pilates and/or walking or running biomechanics?
Your personal training sessions are just that: YOURS! This is your time to work on whatever you would like to in a safe and supportive environment. That can include working on running or walking biomechanics, or Pilates that uses the Reformer and/or mat. She has a studio full of almost any workout equipment you could want, and she knows how and when that equipment can/will be helpful for you to reach your goals.
  • How does scheduling work?
Beth uses an online scheduling app called Setmore to make appointments. Beth will schedule with you personally over the phone, email, or in-person, whatever your preference is. Her scheduling app will send you notifications via email for confirmation of scheduled, rescheduled, or canceled sessions. You will also receive a text and email reminder 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. For regular clients, Beth schedules ahead 2 months at a time to ensure continuity. You do not have to do this, but getting on the schedule regularly, assures that you can have a time you prefer.
  • What are some of the goals others have when they come to work out with Beth?
Clients come to Beth for all kinds of reasons. These include: beginners who want a way to integrate exercise into their lifestyle; people who want to feel better in their bodies and become more fit; people who want to lose weight; people who want to improve their balance. Many people come to Beth to help recover after an injury. Beth encourages each client to listen to their body and what their body wants and helps facilitate how to move towards that.
  • Do I have to work out in between sessions? Can I just work out with Beth in our sessions together?
How often you exercise can affect how quickly you reach your goals. You do not have to work out between sessions. Beth will make sure that she is encouraging you in a way and at a speed that feels right to you.
  • How often "should" I meet with Beth?
It depends on several factors. Some may include: some people come 3 times a week, some people come twice a month. It depends on a couple of things: your desired frequency, your needs, your schedule, and Beth's schedule.

  • If I buy 1-hour sessions and then want to change to 1/2-hour sessions, do I have to buy a completely new package?
Whatever package you have, if you have sessions you haven't used, you can put the remaining money towards a different kind of package.
  • What are your current COVID Precautions for in-person training?
Mask wearing is optional at Attune Fitness. I will wear a mask as a personal preference. I want you to be comfortable as you work out at Attune Fitness. Please do what is right for you.
